In the mornings you would typically find me at Elim Church in Saskatoon where I get to work as a Pastor with the most incredible team! In the afternoons, I hit the classroom and teach Standard Deviation, Pythatorus’ Theorum and on the best days: Trig Ratios! (It’s ok if standard deviation doesn’t excite you as it does me…) I am also part of the Mirror Mirror YXE Team in Saskatoon, focused on building a strong sense of identity and self-esteem in women – this has been tons of fun! In the evenings, you might find me coaching junior badminton or volleyball, practicing worship tunes or walking the beautiful paths of Saskatoon with friends.
I completed the one-year Christian Leadership Program in British Columbia called Kaleo. I then continued studying at Briercrest College in Saskatchewan for two more years and earned a Certificate in Biblical Studies as well as an Associate of Arts in Humanities. After that, I relocated to Saskatoon and got busy working towards an English degree with a math minor, along with an Bachelors of Education degree. This has made for many library hours – and has been an incredible ride! I have worked as a Christian Camp Counselor, Program Director, and have loved volunteering as a youth group leader, worship leader and with Compassion Canada in the amazing work they do!
I became a Christian when...
I don’t remember not being a Christian. My parents taught me about Jesus when I was a little girl and I learned more about him in church. I always knew he was with me growing up – but at certain times it was hard to follow him with my whole heart. For a long time, I tried hard to follow the rules and this left me feeling tired and empty. Since then, God has helped me to understand that Jesus is grace and that means that I can relax, enjoy life, and stop trying to measure up! Jesus has done it all on the cross, and I get to enjoy friendship with Him and follow Him everyday – nothing could be better than this!
A few of my favourite things...
Oh girls! Do I love coffee! I enjoy running the paths of this city with sweet summer air all around, playing hockey with friends in the winter, steamed milk, bright spring flowers, beach volleyball, curling up with a good book I can get right lost in, and spending time with people. I really like cycling and the open road is always a happy place for me!
What I would say to my teenage self:
“You can rest. You don’t have to try hard to make your life valuable –– you are significant because of the massive love Jesus has for you. Rest there. Just be yourself.”
A Bible verse I love:
1 Peter 1:3
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”
